december 7th: Yesterday we celebrated the Mafinga C-litter's first birthday! We made a nice walk through the dunes and although the weather was rainy, we had a great time. Afterwards we had a drink and something to eat at Parnassia (thanks Helgard for the delicious cake!). At the end of the afternoon, it stopped raining so we could take a picture of the whole group. Unfortunately Kuki and her humans already went home at that time.

november 29th: At the Winner show in Amsterdam today, Jua got Excellent in youth class, with a wonderful showreport:

"friendly character but can be more free with approaching and touching. Excellent size. Good body proportions. Excellent head. Good expression. Correct bite. Front is correct, but not ready yet. Good legs and feet. Excellent hindquarters. Shows fluent movement"

Her sister Chikumbi won the title Youth Winster! Martine, Martijn & Kumbi: Great! Many congrats!

november 9th: Yesterday we entered the dogshow in Bleiswijk with Jua. Jua stacked very well, was happy and motivated, so we're very satisfied. She earned a "very good" with very nice show-critics. We are proud of our little pricess! Her sister Chikumbi had a great result: she gained the 1st place and her first JCAC. Martine & Martijn: many congrats!

I had the honour to handle Ijaba in the championsclass and I really enjoyed it! Ijaba won the championsclass and gained res. CAC/CACIB.

november 1st: We spend our autumn holiday in France (Dordogne) at the house of René's parents. Finally I managed to take a picture of Bhanu and Jua together with Iris.

Jua started her season for the first time at the end of september, so she's a real lady now ;-)))

october 14th: Last weekend Martine and I went to Bratislava, Slovakia with Jua, Ijaba and Chikumbi. We had a great time there! On friday we took part in the World Dog Show. Jua's father, Noldor, was also present. It was great to meet Noldor with Jana and Alex! Thank you so much for coming and for the nice day. It's so funny to see the same looks in Noldor as well as Jua. Especially the sparkle in her eyes (energetic and naughty) is the same as her fathers ;-). Noldor is such a relaxed, happy, social, selfconfidenced dog, with an appearance that makes you smile ;-). We also met Jua's halfsibling Amira dela-von-eden from Germany. The picture is a real family-portrait, with Chikumbi, Jua, Amira and laying on the floor daddy Noldor.

And then the World Dog Show itself. The junior class bitches was very big: 32 bitches were entered! Jua stayed very relaxed and did such a good job! Jua and her sister chikumbi both made it to the last 10 bitches. I was so proud of my little princess, leaving the ring with excellent result and a nice show-report!

On saturday and sunday we also participated at the Slovakian clubmatch and the RR-specialty. Jua achieved both days a "very good", but I'm very satisfied. Jua made a lot of progress in showing. And the most important thing is that she starts to like it! I want to thank everyone from "camp Holland" ;-))) for the nice time we had at showring!

september 7th: Last weekend were at a dogshow in Luxembourg. It was a very nice weekend and we are satisfied with the results. Last week we were at the dogshow in Rotterdam with Jua. The whole show-atmosphere and the moody approach of the judge was just too much for our little girl. After the operation 3 months ago, she's more touchy on that point. But she made a lot of progress last week. At the show in Luxembourg, she was really relaxed and happy. In the showring she had a lot of attention and moved very well. She just had a little bit difficulties watching teeth, so she didn't get a judging. Nevertheless we are so proud of our little princess! We are also very proud of Jua's brother Beaudor, he run like a train and is such a handsome and eager boy, just great! And Jua's sister Chikumbi managed to reach the 3rd place with an excellend!

But the smash hit was the performance of queen mum Ijaba! Ijaba won the champions class and gained the title of Luxembourg champion! She is now a multi champion! Martine, Martijn & Ijaba: many congrats, we are so proud of you!

We also participated in the breedersgroup with Ijaba, Chikumbi, Beaudor and Jua. What a great experience to be in the ring of honour in that atmosphere. Jua, Kumbi and Beaudor were not impressed by it at all ;-)! They were just too enthusiastic to make a chance to win, but the judge enjoyed our doggies ;-). After the show the 4 dogs played so nice in the forest. Mama Ijaba really likes to play with her kids, they are so great together!

In the evening we went to a restaurant, where the 4 dogs slept all the time. And after a nice walk on sunday we went back home again. Jua and kumbi sleeping against eachother next to mum Ijaba.

august 16th: Bhanu is following the course agility at Kyno Connect together with our kids Amber and Sem. It's great to see him dive through the agility tunnel with his large body ;-). Yesterday it was Sem's turn to do the course and both Sem and Bhanu had a lot of fun!

july 31st: We had a great holiday! The first week of our holiday, we spend our time in Besse, Dordogne (France). We used this week to recover from a pretty heavy year. After this we went to the parents of René. They have a beautiful house in the Dordogne. René and I went to the Pyrenees for a couple of days together, while the kids and the dogs were having a nice time overthere. Bhanu and Jua really enjoyed the freedom and space they had. After our trip to the Pyrenees, we also had some nice days at René's parents. Wim & Corri: thanks for taking such good care for Amber and Sem and the doggies and, of course, for the nice time we spend with you!

Last month, Jua developed from a puppy into a youngster. Her height is now 64 cm and her weight 30 kg. She recovered completely from the surgery she has undergone 2 months ago, physically as well as mentally and she is such a happy, energetic, bold, sweet and funny RR-girl. Bhanu and Jua are a fantastic duo together and we enjoy every day with our 2 doggies!

29 juni: Yesterday we had a wonderful day! We had a "Mafinga-puppy-party"! Unfortunately Denis was not able to come with Changwena, because of a little injury. Get well soon, little pirate-girl ;-)! Theo, Sas and Merel, thanks so much for taking care of the coffee!

june 25th: Jua is back again! It's great to see our two four-legged friends play together! For more pictures of our doggies on the beach and more headshots of Jua, see the page pictures, pictures 2009.

june 21st: Yesterday we entered an open dogshow with Bhanu and Jua, organised by KC Dordrecht. Bhanu's sister Kabisha was also there (congratulations with the good result, Stieneke and Elly!) and Jua's brother Beaudor also participated (well done, Ruud ;-))). We had a very nice day. It was such a good oppportunity for us to give Jua good experiences again. She reached the 3d round, entered the showring 4 times and is judged by 3 different judges. She got a beautiful showreport:

"6 months old female of excellent breedtype. Beautiful head. Beautiful eye. Scissor bite. Angulations in good proportions. Good ridge. Very well muscled. Good feet. Good tail. Very youthful movement. Good ring behavior."

Our Bhanu did also a good job. We entered the show with him just for fun. It's always a big pleasure to be with him in the showring. He got a lot of attention and really likes being showed. A compliment for René, who handled Bhanu 2 times very well! Bhanu got a beautiful showreport:

"2 years old feminin male, beautiful head, scissor bite, neck good of length, good topline, good tail and tail set, good under line, would have liked more front chest, less angulated in front, good angulated in rear, good fur condition, multiple crowns, moves with good drive, friendly character"

Jua and her sister Chikumbi had their first scent tracking lesson last friday. They did a good job and really liked it! A nice photo-impression:

june 15th: Little by little Jua becomes in good form again. Since this weekend she is allowed to run without the leash. On friday she was tired after running 5 minutes, but today she run for 15 minutes with ease. We started practising again, so that we can go on with the courses that we are following with her.

We added a new link from Gaby van der Wal, Bach-blossom-therapist. A couple of months ago, Bhanu had benefit by this therapy to reduce his feelings of stress while being in the car on the highway. He loved to sit in the car in town or on bumpy small roads, but as soon as we drove on the highway he didn't liked it anymore (he was the only one who was happy to get stucked in a traffic jam LOL). We are glad we can say he likes it much better in the car now, also on the highway.

june 5th: We lived through worrying times lately. 2 Weeks ago, Jua became a little sick. At first, we thought about a reaction on the vaccination for rabies. She vomited some times, but it appeared that she recovered after getting medication from the vet. At the begin of last week, the vomiting was over, but then she got diarrhoea. At the end of last week, her situation became worse. She started vomiting again and became languid. She lost her appetite on thursday-evening. Last week on friday morning, our vet gave her a drip, but it didn't pick her up. Because Kim, our vet, did not have a good feeling about it, we went to the clinic in Amsterdam on friday in the afternoon. An echo showed the diagnosis: an invagination (a part of the bowels is pushed over the next part) wich caused an obstuction in the bowels. The same afternoon Jua had to undergo a medical surgery. Dr. Sjollema removed the invaginated part of the bowels (about 25 cm). The operation went succesfull and only 1 day after surgery Jua came home.

At this moment, one week after the medical surgery, we are happy to tell that Jua recovers very well. Her temperature remained normal and she becomes stronger and healthier every day. Her appetite is enormous and it's hard to accept for Jua that she is only allowed to eat little bits ;-). She is also not allowed to jump, play or run this week. That's hard for our little princess: she is a litlle energy-bomb and jumping around is her second nature ;-).

What about Bhanu? Bhanu has his own party! It's impossible to keep Jua quiet when Bhanu is walking around. That's why Bhanu stays with Martine and Martijn for the moment. He has a great time together with his sweet friends Ijaba and Chikumbi and his fellow Kadushi. A better and more loving home for our big friend doesn't exist! Martine & Martijn: thank you so much, you're great!

may 17th: Thanks, Elly, for the beautiful new webart for our site!

On the 10th of may, Jua entered the showring for the first time. Jua participated in the baby-class at the dogshow in Alkmaar. Our goal was to let her get used to the show atmosphere and to give her a good experience with it. And it sure was! Jua was so relaxed and happy in and outside the ring! Brother Beaudor and sister Chikumbi did also great. Judge mrs. de Vries-Hoogland rewarded Jua with a promising. She had a nice showreport, but with the remark that she's a little overangulated at the moment. Well, that's not really strange with a growing-up-puppy. After having fun in the ring, Jua and Chikumbi fell asleep together in the bench. We are so proud of our little girl!

may first 2009: Chikumbi stayed with us for a couple of days in the past week. Jua and Chikumbi had a lot of fun together. Bhanu also liked to play with Jua's sister. And what about us? Although it was quite busy sometimes, we enjoyed her stay very much! For more pictures, click here.

We restyled the page with pictures. In this way, we hope to give an impression how the dogs develop in a year. We tried to give an annual overview.

April 25th, Bonnie van den Born made a fotoshoot of Bhanu and Jua. As soon as the pictures are ready, we'll put them on the site. So keep watching the site!

april 13th: Yesterday we had a "Mafinga-puppy-party". Only 1 puppy couldn't come (she lives in Spain) and even Denis and Helgard came from Germany with Changwena, great! It was so nice to see them all together and to see the differences and the likenesses. We had a drink afterwards at the trainingshal of Kyno Connect and enjoyed the nice and sunny weather. We had a fantastic day! Clip will follow soon!

april 5th: It's springtime and the doggies enjoyed the nice weather last week. On thursday I made a walk with Bhanu and Ijaba in Spaarnwoude. A good opportunity to take some pictures of Jua's mummy Ijaba! I also took Jua for a walk. She had a lot of fun just by her own. Digging holes is one of her favourite activities ;-) On wedneday, Jua had her first lesson in obedience for puppies, together with her sister Chikumbi. It was fun, we've learned a lot and Jua was really tired afterwards!

march 20th: We've got a new banner! Thanks Elly, for this beautiful webart from our 2 doggies! We also added new pictures of Bhanu and Jua, enjoying the springtime.

march 15th: Today at the show in Leiden, Ijaba became BOB (best of breed)! That's great, because she's now Dutch champion! Martine & Ijaba: well done, many congrats! Jua and Chikumbi came along with us and supported their mommy very well ;-)

march 14th: Today our big friend Bhanu celebrates his second birthday! Happy birthday!

march 8th: Yesterday Martine and I took photo's from our little girls Jua and Chikumbi. They are almost 14 weeks old now and it's great to see the sisters playing together. We took our first lesson in show-training with Jua. We have to practise standing still, because that's a little hard for our energy bomb. But she has a lot of attention and her tail wags all the time very happily. Thanks to Martine for the stack picture ;-) At Jua's page we have a new piece of photo-art, made by Elly!

march 5th: News from Finland: Bhanu's daddy, Tarujen Penzi "Zorro", became The top show dog of the year 2008 and Best Finnish show ridgeback. Many congrats Anne and Marko with this great result!

februari 26th: 2 new pics of our doggies! We also received this great picture of Jua's sister Changwena, together with Denis in Feldberg (Schwarzwald).

february 22th: Last Thursday we had a nice afternoon. Marja visited us with Jua's brother Beaudor! Jua, Chikumbi and Beaudor had a lot of fun playing with their mother Ijaba at Martine and Martijn's home. After a nice lunch, Jua, Beaudor and Ijaba played outside for a while. We enjoyed to see the sweet doggies together and we are looking forward to see them again! At the page with clips, we edited 2 new clips of this wonderful day.

februari 11: new headshots from Bhanu and Jua. We went for the first lessons at the dogschool with Jua and we enjoy it! She has a lot of attention during the exercises and she learns really fast. She shows that she's a real ridgeback: she'll do everything for food! ;-)))

february 4th: We added new links. Jua's brother Mafinga Chibvumba "Beaudor" (lives with Marja, Ruud and Nick) has his own site and Jua's sister Mafinga Changwena (lives with Denis in Germany) has her own site too! Sister Mafinga Chikara Chikumbi ("Kumbi") stays with Martine, Martijn and Ijaba!

We enjoy Jua very much. She's doing her needs outside, sleeps all night and is growing like a fool! It's nice being busy socializing again: school, children's farm, shopping centres, markets, having visitors or going on a visit ourselves (with and without other dogs), the puppy- socialization course, the park, the residential area etc. etc. Jua likes it all. And when she comes home after such a busy program, she's so happy to see her "big bro" Bhanu again! We are very proud of our big boy. He's really sweet with Jua and plays with care! And otherwise she's not so careful with him ;-))) Jua jumps on him, testing the elasticity of his cheeks, stretching out his ears a little bit more. But at the right moment she shows her respect for him so well. It's great to look at this dog-language! A lot of times they sleep on the same pillow, enjoying the wintersun. It's a great couple together!

Of course we are very proud that a picture of our Jua became "picture of the month february" on the site of the rrcn!

january 29th: Elly (Madzinza), big thanks for the nice webart of Bhanu and Jua! We made new headshots of our big friend Bhanu today!

january 23: Jua lives with us for 2 days now and she already is part of the family! Bhanu and Jua are doing very well together and this evening they were laying next to eachother. Jua is a lovely, happy puppy and she feels at home yet. We are so happy with our beautiful girl!

january 19th: We count down the days...next friday we can pick up our little Jua!

january 15th: Yesterday the puppies played outside the trainingshall of dogschool Kyno Connect. And they had a lot of fun! Bhanu and Ijaba joined them and showed the little ones how fun it is to play together!

january 13th: We are proud to present: MAFINGA CHIVINDI JUA!!!!

The girl who stole our heart, the girl with the upside down J (from Jua;-)) on her chest, the girl who can make just as funny jumps as Bhanu, the girl with the lovely face, the girl who is so welcome in our family!!!

Martine & Martijn: thanks so much for this beautiful, sweet girl and your confidence! You gave the pups the best start possible! You are great!
